yes, yes, it's bad...but it's 10pm and i don't really want to start working on another assignment right now. i did get stuff done today, though...a presentation for my research methods class on monday and a write-up of a hike we went on last friday (which is for a field project for my nature conservation class). so i'm not completely slacking off....=D
anyway, where did i leave off....ok, so we didn't end up going to the hallowe'en party. i didn't really want to go in the first place, but then i got sick with a cold, so i had even more reason to stay home. my roommates (Karen, Laura and Sana) were going to go, but Karen was also sick, and Laura and Sana just got lazy...plus, i rented 2 movies that we all ended up watching at home! hee...i'm a bad, bad influence!
the sunday after (oct 30), we got invited for dinner by the people who live in the basement unit...we invited them over a few weeks before for an informal wine & cheese mixer at our place, and i guess they're returning the favour. anyway, that was a good time...Stephanie (who is one of the neighbours from downstairs) cooked us dinner, which was excellent, and we just had a good time talking.
the next few weeks were fairly low key...i just started working on some of my assignments, just to get ahead: I had to prepare for my formal debate about extinction and biodiversity, and write an op-ed piece on GMOs (genetically modified organisms, for the non-science geeks)...plus a few group projects. had to pull an all-nighter to finish the op-ed piece, but the debate went well, I think. we get our marks back on tuesday. anyway, right now i'm working on a review of an environmental assessment...that's the one i don't want to start doing right now
as for social events...we went out for drinks for someone's birthday last nov 2, then to a prof's house for wine and cheese on remembrance day. saturday, we were supposed to go to a country/western bar, but ended up at the old triangle, which is an old irish/celtic pub with live east coast music. then, sunday was Melissa's birthday, and we went over to her house for frozen girlie drinks (think daiquiris!). yesterday, we were planning to see the new harry potter movie, but there was a SRES society organized bowling -- for free! -- so we went to that instead (oh, and this is after going on a hike to a wetland complex for the field project). which brings us to today...we got invited to a few events tonight...some people are going out dancing, and others to check out some live music...but i thought i'd stay home and get some work done...and i did! but now i'm just watching some harry potter (the 2nd one) before i go to bed!
