happy 2006!

Happy New Year!!

So, to continue where I left off...the last few weeks of classes were, of course, pretty hectic. I had 3 group projects: a field project, a workshop and the puppet show, a term paper and my 2nd proposal draft. Of course, I ended up catching the bug and getting a cold, and to add insult to injury, my migraine headaches came back! Oh, the pain. I ended up not submitting my term paper until 3 days after I got back into Calgary, then sleeping for most of the next week and half because of my migraines. But luckily, they went away just in time to do last minute Christmas shopping and celebrate the holidays with my family and friends back home! I have to say, it was really nice to just sit around and read or watch movies...although later I'll probably regret not doing work on my thesis during the holidays.

I've got a few days left before taking off for Halifax on the morning of Jan 5...then it's straight back to class on Friday, since classes actually start tomorrow (yes, I'll be missing the first class for 2 of my courses). No rest for the wicked, I guess. ;) Haven't quite decided on what to take for this next term...for sure I'll be taking an Environmental Policy class offered by the School of Public Administration, and maybe an introductory GIS course bumped up to graduate level. And then, I could either do some qualitative methods (ie, interview, survey, etc. methods) or do a directed reading course on doing habitat/vegetation analysis...not sure which one would be most helpful for my thesis. I've also signed up to TA a Nature Conservation course this semester, so that'll add to my workload. It'll also give me some extra spending money, though, so it works out even.

So that's pretty much all that's been going on recently...I've got 2 more days to pack and visit friends I still haven't seen, then back to my home away from home....

Hi Abbey! Glad you're feeling better! Don't stress out too much.

Take the methods class b/c then you won't make any mistakes in the data collection stage thus making your life a heck of a lot easier in the data analysis stage.

That's my 2 cents! Good luck next term!
